Imagine if you could sign 1 lease, but live around the world – in converted boutique hotels no less? Now you can with Roam, a new design-conscious co-living concept making it possible for “location-independent” nomads to work, sleep, roam and play throughout a growing arsenal of locations across the globe. Roam bills itself as an “experimental community testing the boundaries between work, travel and life adventure,” targeting the young, digital-age entrepreneur armed with the freedom to work from anywhere – and a solid case of globe-trotting wanderlust.
As the name would suggest, signing a lease with Roam lets you continually move. Spend a few weeks or months in one location, then hop to another. 8-10 locations are projected to open around the world by 2017, with Miami and Bali currently in operation and Madrid, Buenos Aires and London next on deck.
How does it work? For $500/week or $1800/month you’ll have a fully furnished private room outfitted with a Tuft & Needle mattress and Parachute bedding, a private bathroom and utilities including universal power outlets and yes – battle tested wi-fi. Traveling with your beau or bff? You can share any given room with up to 1 person. You’ll also have access to each location’s shared chef’s kitchen, laundry facilities and co-working spaces, and in some cases a shared pool, media room, library and/or event space.
